Dawn Grannum is a musician, writer, and educator from Georgetown Guyana. She is passionate about the arts and enjoys creating. In February 2017, she held her first solo show at the Jack Theatre and released her first album Rising in 2019 on SoundCloud. Those songs were featured in the off-Broadway production Why Women Cry in 2019 directed by Najah Muhammad. She released her second album, Welcome You in February 2022, available on iTunes, Spotify, and Soundcloud.
In April 2021, Dawn self-published her first children’s book, Wake Up Baby Brother Bud, available on Amazon. The draft was inspired with the help of her brother Devon and completed in 2020 with illustration by H.R. Harry. Her second book, When I Wake, a collection of poems about Life, Location, Loss, and Love was published September 8th, 2022. Get your copy on Amazon today!
Dawn taught in the field of music education for ten years. She taught grades Pre-K through 8th in general music, middle school guitar ensemble, and rock band. She also provided music instruction to children ages five to fifteen at her Saturday Academy Music Program from December 2018 to September 2019.
Dawn resides in Brooklyn, New York. In her spare time, she enjoys composing, reading novels, and watching k-dramas.
